The BMW X5 is a midsize luxury SUV which debuted in the Boston Area in 1999.

The BMW Second Generation X5 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) was released in November 2006. The second generation Massachusetts X5 features many new technological advancements including BMW's iDrive system as standard equipment and an optional third row seat, (raising passenger capacity to seven.)

The most recent version BMW X5 was unveiled in 2013 as a 2014 model in the Boston region.

This 2010 has every possible option, including things that most people didn't know existed. It has the Cold Weather Package, M Sport Package, Premium Package, Premium Sound Package, Rear Climate Package, Sport Package, Comfort Access Rear seat entertainment, Satellite Radio, Leather, and it's All-Wheel Drive.

It is a truly outstanding blend of car and SUV.

The Technology package adds parking sensors, a back-up camera with a top view, digital music storage and a hard-drive-based navigation system with voice activation and real-time traffic. The Rear Climate package adds rear privacy glass, manual rear side sunshades and four-zone auto climate control. The Active Ventilated Seat package adds multi-adjustable front "comfort" seats with ventilation. The Cold Weather package adds heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel and a ski bag for the rear center pass-through.

It also has a heads-up display, and an iPod adapter.

One of our favorite features is the automatic adaptive xenon headlights, which actually turn in reaction to how the driver turns the steering wheel. (So the headlights automaitclly point to where you are going. Very easy to get used to, and after a little while, when you drive a car at night that doesn't have this feature, you sure miss it.)

Because it's an xDrive48i, it has a 4.8-liter V8 good for 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. (In performance testing, the 48i went from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds.)

The X5's interior layout is restrained and elegant, with precise construction and high-quality materials. The front seats are nicely shaped and adjust for a wide range of body types (the optional comfort seats offer even more adjustment).
